Canon U.S.A. Celebrates 2013 In Award-Winning Style With Top Honors And Leading Industry Recognitions

Company Noted for Dedication to Environment, Top-Quality Customer Support and Innovative Products

MELVILLE, N.Y., November 18, 2013 – Proud to mark 2013 as another award-winning year, Canon U.S.A., Inc., a leader in digital imaging solutions, is honored to celebrate several awards earned throughout the year from top industry organizations and publications. Recognized for its dedication to the environment, quality of customer support and innovative products, Canon has been acknowledged by Interbrand as one of the 50 Best Global Brands and 50 Best Global Green Brands for 2013. Canon has also been placed on FORTUNE Magazine’s 2013 World’s Most Admired Companies List as fourth globally in the computers category and top three for innovation, financial soundness and long-term investment.

Canon Inc., the parent company of Canon U.S.A., has been positioned by Gartner, Inc. in the Leaders quadrant of the 2013 Magic Quadrant for Managed Print Services, Worldwide1 report. The Gartner Magic Quadrant positions vendors based on their performance across two major categories: the Ability to Execute, in which Gartner evaluates each MPS provider on its “success in delivering results today, as well as its preparation to deliver results in the future,” and Completeness of Vision, where Gartner evaluates a provider’s “prospects for success by analyzing its view of the market, service operating model and strategic plans for growth and service improvements.”

For the Environment

Canon Virginia, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Canon U.S.A., was the first equipment manufacturer (OEM) to achieve Responsible Recycling Practices for Electronics Recyclers (R2) certification at its manufacturing facility in Newport News, Va. The R2 Standard is a comprehensive set of best management practices governing the environmental, health, safety and security aspects of the electronics recycling industry.

Canon was also among the first manufacturers with qualifying products in the imaging equipment category of EPEAT®, the global registry for greener electronics and the first manufacturer to achieve EPEAT Gold rating, the highest level of registration. Governments, businesses and individuals worldwide use EPEAT to assist them in choosing devices that can help reduce their environmental impact. EPEAT rates products on a lifecycle basis and considers, among other things, their absence of toxic substances, their use of recycled and recyclable materials and their design for recycling, product longevity, energy efficiency, corporate performance and packaging.

Top-Quality Customer Service

For the fifth consecutive year, Canon’s customer support center has been awarded BenchmarkPortal’s2 Center of Excellence certification, which places the call center in the top 10 percent as surveyed for efficiency and effectiveness.

Furthermore, as a result of Canon’s commitment to customer service and support excellence, Canon U.S.A. received the PCMag.com Readers’ Choice Award for Service and Reliability in the digital camera and printer categories for the tenth consecutive year and camcorders for the past three years.

Innovative Products

The Company has been recognized for its high-quality technology and innovation amongst consumer and media outlets. The EOS 70D Digital SLR camera, which features an innovative new Dual Pixel CMOS AF system for instant and precise focusing of video, was awarded the 2013 Best of What’s New Award by Popular Science.

Other noteworthy accolades are a total of 13 awards from Reviewed.com, a division of USA Today in several categories. Top highlights include the EOS-1D X DSLR camera for Best Professional Camera, XA25 for Best Prosumer Camcorder, PowerShot SX50 HS digital camera for Best Superzoom Camera, VIXIA HF G30 camcorder for Best Camcorder of the Year and three awards for the EOS 70D DSLR camera, including, Best High-End DSLR, Best System Camera for Video and Best Innovation in Video for the Dual Pixel CMOS AF system on the EOS 70D DSLR camera.

Popular Photography awarded the 2013 Pop Award for four products, EOS 70D DSLR camera, EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens, Speedlite 600 EX-RT flash and PIXMA PRO-10 professional inkjet printer.

Digital Photography Review issued five recognitions including, the Gold Award for the EF 24-70 mm f/2.8L II USM lens, EF 40mm f/2.8 STM lens and EOS Rebel SL1 digital camera; and the Silver Award for EOS 6D DSLR camera and EOS Rebel T5i digital camera.

Imaging Resource also named the EOS-1D X DSLR camera as Overall Best Camera of the Year and Pro Camera of the Year and EOS 5D Mark III camera as Enthusiast DSLR of the Year.

A total of eight Hot One 2013 Awards from Professional Photographer based on various price points in several categories were earned. Products recognized are the EOS 5D Mark III DSLR camera, EOS 6D DSLR camera, EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM lens, EF 35mm f/2 IS USM lens, PIXMA PRO-100 professional inkjet printer, PIXMA PRO-10 professional inkjet printer, imagePROGRAF iPF6450 printer and imagePROGRAF iPF9400 printer.

Earlier this year, Canon’s line of Multifunction Printers (MFP), Large Format Printers and business software solutions proudly earned several awards from Buyers Laboratory LLC (BLI), the leading office-equipment testing lab and business consumer advocate. The Company received the BLI 2013 Solutions Line of the Year award for its extensive portfolio of document imaging software and was recognized in several individual product categories including, Outstanding Output Management Solution for its uniFLOW v5.1 software, Outstanding Achievement in Innovation for its Quick Printing Tool and Outstanding Achievement in Innovation for its Universal Login Manager. The multifunction products of Canon’s A3 line featuring imageRUNNER and imageRUNNER ADVANCE models have also been named the BLI 2013 Line of the Year for Energy Efficiency and eight of its imageRUNNER ADVANCE and imageCLASS multifunction office systems have earned Summer “Pick” awards from BLI in the A3, A4 and Energy Efficiency categories. Additionally, the Océ ColorWave® 650 printer was awarded the BLI Buyers Lab Pick for “Outstanding Color Technical Wide Format MFP” 2013. Canon’s MFPs achieved high scores in BLI’s tests for reliability, image quality, productivity, paper handling, ease of use and more.

The Océ Arizona 660 XT UV flatbed printer and Océ ColorWave 900 printer were named 2013 MUST SEE ‘EMS by Graphic Arts Show Company in the wide-format category as compelling production introductions and the Océ JetStream 5500 Full-Color Inkjet Press earned the 2013 Quick Printing Readers’ Choice Top Products Award in the production inkjet presses category.

Additionally, Better Buys for Business gave its Editor’s Choice 2013 Award to Canon’s imageRUNNER ADVANCE C2225/C2230 and imageRUNNER ADVANCE 400iF/500iF MFPs.

Noteworthy Accolades
